CASTELBRANDO HOSTS THE G8 OF AGRICULTURE

Cison di Valmarino (TV), from 18th to 20th April 2009 CastelBrando hosted for the first time the G8 of Agriculture.  The event, strongly desired by Italian Minister of Agriculture Luca Zaia, gathered the most important international representatives of the ministeries of agriculture to decide over future strategies in view of increasing prices for agricultural raw materials and future negative effects of less food being available for the whole world.
The event was considered of great importance because, as well as hosting the ministers of the most industrialized countries in the world, it got the participation of the countries of G5, Argentina, Australia, Egypt and some international representatives and organizations such as the World Bank, the EU advisor of agriculture, FAO, IFAD, PAM and OCSE.

The imposing fortress CastelBrando, located in one of the major areas of excellent agricultural and vinaceus products in Italy, between Venice and the Dolomites, is the result of a painstaking restoration carried out to convert one of the biggest castle in Europe to a tourist structure. Today it presents itself as a medieval hamlet perfectly equipped for hosting international events. Since 2002, opening year to public, the castle has already hosted many events of great importance such as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria convention, the summer school in biostatistics and epidemiology of Harvard University, meetings and gala conventions by big companies such as Porsche, Sun Microsystem, Luxottica, Telecom and many others.

The castle scenery is really extraordinary and offers a whole world of opportunities: a refined Hotel with 80 elegant rooms, suite and apartments, in three locations each with its own charm (50 CastelBrando – 16 CastelBrando Dependance – 14 Villa Marcello Marinelli); a modern Beauty Center located in the oldest wing of the castle; a recherché restaurant, an informal restaurant and several bars and wineries; a congress centre made up of three theatres and eight breakout rooms: the historical Teatro Sansovino (200 sqm.), the Teatro Magno (550 sqm.), the Teatro Tenda (1.000 sqm.) and the rooms of the eighteenth century (50/80 sqm. each). Everything equipped with the latest technology available and able to welcome up to 1800 people. The cultural centre proposes the visit of San Martino Church and several museums which make the castle the starting point for a marvellous adventure through history. To complete the offer, a boutique and 50 hectares of wooden park perfectly equipped for walking, horse riding or mountain-biking.
